Artists’ Thoughts
There once was a woman who lived inside me, always contemplating life, a little like ‘The Thinker’ by Auguste Rodin. My inner child, always staring up…from the ground, as if an answer will come with a great wash of wisdom.
I remember sitting half naked on a stool, being looked at through a lens of a camera, feeling quite vulnerable, so I could get her out onto the canvas. This modern contemporary piece I think lives in all Artists.
Most of our time, is spent in silence, alone with nothing but the scent of paints, turpentines and our thoughts on life. Brush strokes moving with or without direction.
It is I, sitting on a stool with bulging hips and bent toes, deep shadows, with flaring nostrils and curled fingers covered in reds and yellows, and all the saturation of colours that make us skin.
The painting has been part of group exhibitions as one of the Limited-edition Black Canvas Projects collection.
